LakeHub Foundation Partners with Konza to Advance AI and Digital Skills

Months ago, we opened discussions with Konza Technopolis Development Authority on how we can merge our strengths to advance digital skills training in Kenya.

We can now now proudly share that LakeHub's Zone01 Kisumu and Technopolis Development Authority (formerly Konza Technopolis Development Authority) Authority (KoTDA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to advance AI and digital-skills development in Kenya. Our partnership, finetuned over the past few months, will focus on co-developing curricula that combine AI literacy and digital skills with life skills and behavioural competencies.

Training will be delivered physically and virtually through Jitume Digital Media Factory Hubs, leveraging Zone01 Kisumu's peer-to-peer learning, hands-on exercises and applied projects.

Our collaboration will also include:
✅ Certification and recognition of learning outcomes
✅ Training-of-trainers programmes
✅ Bootcamps, hackathons and innovation challenges
✅ Access to computing infrastructure, connectivity and devices
✅ Integration of mentorship, incubation and innovation activities

‍LakeHub Foundation was represented at the signing by our Co-Executive Directors, Dorcas Owinoh and Caleb Nyoiro. Bellah Oyucho and MC DAISY added specialized expertise to the delegation from Kisumu. KoTDA was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, John Paul Okwiri, OGW, MBA, MCIPS, and Josephine Ndambuki, Chief Manager for Business Development and Innovation, and key staff who'll work on the implementation of the agreemnet.

This partnership marks an important step towards expanding access to future-ready skills and creating stronger pathways for young people to participate meaningfully in Africa’s growing digital and AI economy.
